Theatre VCU presents “Volume of Smoke” at the Singleton Center for the Performing Arts Sept. 28-29 and Oct. 4-6 at 7:30 p.m.; and Sept. 30 and Oct. 7 at 3 p.m. Based on eyewitness accounts of a historic tragedy that inspired a nationwide religious revival, “Volume of Smoke” is a beautiful, moving and surprisingly funny journey into the heart of disaster.
