The fourth biennial Hamad bin Khalifa Symposium on Islamic Art will be held at the end of October in Doha, Qatar. Twelve speakers will discuss specific objects in the museum’s diverse collection.
The title of the symposium is God is Beautiful; He Loves Beauty: The Object in Islamic Art and Culture. The keynote address will be given by Paul Goldberger, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author for The New Yorker, who will discuss the Museum building itself as a work of Islamic Art.
